New stuff.....Insulin administration is here.
Check our class schedule for current Diabetes Classes for caregivers who have already completed the basic nurse delegation
training.
FAQs:
Can nursing assistants really administer insulin?
Yes, under strict guidelines.
Do caregivers need Diabetes Classes to assist a client
with their testing or insulin? No, as long as the caregiver is only assisting. The caregiver may not perform the
testing or the insulin injection.
Who pays for the training? This depends; either
you or in some cases your employer may be willing to pay the course fees.
What does it cost? Care Plus will charge $25
through March, but this may change. We strive to keep costs reasonable and affordable. Our fees go up or
down depending on the cost of materials.
How long does the class take? As long as you
have completed the Nurse Delegation class, the Diabetes training takes about 3 hours.
When can I start giving insulin injections?
Again, their are strict guidelines about this which you will learn in class. Once you have completed the class, have
all required credentials, and have a qualified RN delegator working with you ... you are ready.
